calendar collection

In 1976, the bicentennial year of our nation, the Thompson Historical Society created a calendar of historic photographic images. For more than a quarter century, these calendars were sold at the Christmas holiday period. Some years had special themes such as barns and schools. Other years had color photos, but most just celebrated our town with the old greyscale / black and white / sepia tones of the past.

These calendars have been recycled, separated by page, tabularized by photograph search topic and are now available to you for free as individual sheets from the Thompson Public Library. Use the index to find an old house, grandparent or a place that no longer exists. There are close to 500 images to pick from and all are ready for framing. Enjoy the hunt!

We’ve assigned a page number to all images to help you find them in the file boxes at the Thompson Public Library. For those looking for a specific topic – family name, location or year – use the Ctrl-f search function once you open the file — simply press the Ctrl button, then the letter f and a search box should pop up on your computer screen.

Complete calendars for select years are available – just visit us at the Museum on Sunday.
